Abstract:
Strategic Noise Maps in Europe are supported mainly by Directive 2002/44/EC and by Good Practice Guide for the preparation of Strategic Noise Maps. These documents address mainly four types of noise sources: Roads, Railways, Airports and Industries and was therefore not included the Recreational Activities. This paper seeks to justify the need for inclusion of Recreational Activities in the Strategic Noise Maps, present some examples, and the main difficulties associated with, and present the main methods that can be used for characterization and modelling of this special type of noise source.
