Abstract:
Implementation of a design process for evaluating, using analytical methods, the
shape and layout of façade elements, in terms of elements dimensions and
ventilated cavity geometry, in order to avoid the formation of flow induced
acoustic sources which lead to the problem of aero-acoustic resonance. The
process can be utilised to enable engineers to design façade elements which will
not be affected by wind induced noise and to identify in the existing façade
configurations which is the key element to modify in order to eliminate the
problem. The aim is to avoid that post-installation mitigation measures need to
be put in place in case wind noise on building facades occurs.
